Selecting the right shower toilet manufacturer is one of the most consequential decisions for bathroom brands, importers, and wholesalers. The wrong supplier can lead to quality issues, shipment delays, and unhappy customers — while the right partner ensures reliable production, innovative designs, and smooth logistics.

In this guide, we cover the key factors to consider when evaluating a smart toilet OEM factory in China.

1. Manufacturing Capabilities

Does the factory produce complete units in-house or outsource critical components? A vertically integrated manufacturer — one that handles injection moulding, PCB assembly, ceramic casting, and final testing under one roof — offers better quality control and shorter lead times. At OtterMax, every stage from component sourcing to finished product testing happens in our Ningbo facility.

2. Certifications & Compliance

Different markets require different certifications. For Europe, look for EN 1717 (backflow prevention), EN 13077, and CE marking. For North America, ETL or UL listing and FCC compliance are essential. According to TOTO, water efficiency certifications like WaterSense can also influence consumer purchasing decisions. Always request the full technical file — not just a certificate image.

3. OEM/ODM Flexibility

Can the factory customise the enclosure, UI panel, packaging, and function set? Or are you limited to off-the-shelf designs? The best partners offer platform sharing: a proven internal architecture with customisable exteriors. This approach — which we use across our ETW, ES, and NS platforms — reduces tooling costs and accelerates time-to-market.

4. EN 1717: More Than a Checkbox

Many Chinese factories add an external backflow preventer to satisfy EN 1717 on paper. But the European standard requires the anti-backflow protection to be integral to the water-path design. According to DVGW, the German technical and scientific association for gas and water, proper backflow prevention is a system-level requirement — not a component-level afterthought. Only 2–3 factories in China genuinely design for this from the architecture stage.

5. Communication & Support

A factory that responds within one business day, provides updates proactively, and assigns a dedicated engineering contact is worth more than a slightly lower unit price. After-sales support — spare parts availability, installation guidance, and warranty handling — determines the long-term viability of the partnership.

6. Visit the Factory

Whenever possible, visit the production line. Look for organised workflows, in-line testing stations, and documented quality procedures. A clean, well-managed factory floor is the most honest signal of production quality. As noted by Geberit, the European sanitary technology leader, "quality is built into the process, not inspected into the product."
